Cheryl Childers and Josh Hyatt from Love After Lockup had intense chemistry between them, but that alone didn't let them have a happy ending. They appeared in season 2 of WeTV's hit romance show Love After Lockup and majorly struggled with each other's attitude and Josh's mom, Tina. Cheryl and Josh's chaotic and toxic love story is typical of relationships in Love After Lockup. The show follows inmates as they get out of prison and arrive to their love interest on the other side. There have been immediate weddings upon release, immediate breakups, family fights, and many other types of drama.

The highly entertaining show has been around for five seasons and had 59 different couples appear. There is also a spinoff, Life After Lockup, that follows the continued storylines of Love After Lockup's most interesting pairs. The franchise also includes Love During Lockup, which is currently airing and features hopeful people in relationships with inmates who are currently incarcerated. Over the years the show has been around, many of the inmates have reoffended, passed away, or broken up with the person who was there for them on the show. Cheryl and Josh have been victims to two of those things.

Josh's Mom Was A Problem

On Love After Lockup, Cheryl, a mom of three, talked about her fascination for falling for serial killers. It's good that she only fell for an ex-felon, Josh, who was incarcerated for six years for a bank robbery. But their love story was far from perfect. And to create more problems, Josh's mom, Tina, slapped Cheryl, though WeTV did not show it.

The couple had a messy split on social media when Josh called his reality TV girlfriend "psycho" and "delusional." He further confirmed the breakup by posting a picture with his new puppy by saying "my new girl." Season 2 of Love After Lockup was still on when fans learned that these two had broken up. Still, the show helped Love After Lockup viewers understand what problems led them to go separate ways.

Cheryl was recently on Love After Lockup: Where Are They Now? She trash-talked Josh and Tina and revealed that while Josh was incarcerated, he wanted to have a baby so bad that he did something very strange.

"He collected his sperm and brought it to me during visit."

Cheryl went on to describe that Tina and her boyfriend helped the endeavor by supplying the tubes Josh would use. Cheryl said she would then go into the bathroom and use the tubes to try and get pregnant. Looking back on her relationship and the unhinged things she did, Cheryl came to a conclusion.

"I was stupid when I was with Josh, I get it."

After breaking up with Cheryl, Josh moved on with another girl. His new lady posted a few intimate shower pictures with him. However, the photos were soon deleted, suggesting that the relationship didn't work out. Interestingly, Josh has also written a book called Message In Blood. The book is a "story of street justice" and available on Amazon. The paperback is $14.95, and the Kindle version costs $3.01.

Since his release on Love After Lockup, Josh landed himself back in prison, for likely considerable time. He was arrested in November 2020 (per Soap Dirt) for several felony charges. The five charges against him include possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a substance with the intent to distribute, and more. It's unclear what sentence was handed down, but he is currently incarcerated.

Repeating Old Patterns

According to Soapdirt, after Josh, Cheryl quickly started dating another guy. But that relationship also ended in the public eye. Her ex posted a couple of videos of her house and showed how messy that was. He also claimed that his ex-girlfriend isn't a good mother, and she was used to doing drugs. Since then, the Love After Lockup star has seemingly not learned her lesson.

When Cheryl was on Where Are They Now? she revealed that she was in a relationship with another inmate, one who was actually friends with Josh on the inside. She described that they bonded over being worshipers of Odin and having strong ties to their Viking ancestry. Love After Lockup alum Cheryl is proud of her new felon, and it looks like he is out now and still together with Cheryl.
