My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (2024)

My Hero Academia boasts a vast and colorful cast of characters, and when it came time to animate Kohei Horikoshi's story, only the finest voice actors could do these characters justice in the ongoing MHA anime series. Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist, is voiced by Daiki Yamash*ta, and his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto.

Katsuki Bakugo isn't an easy character to portray. He is often shouting, growling or speaking tensely to other characters, and he even has a few vulnerable moments, which demands flexible voice acting to match. Fortunately, Nobuhiko Okamoto is up to the job, and this hardworking voice actor has appeared in many other anime series that My Hero Academia fans can try next.

10 Kota Tomiie Has A Fortunate Name (Toradora!)

Not all of Nobuhiko Okamoto's roles involve angry and aggressive characters like Katsuki Bakugo. Some of them involve gentler and more ordinary anime characters, such as Kota Tomiie in the high school rom-com Toradora!. Kota and Katsuki Bakugo aren't exactly birds of a feather.

Kota often appeared in the spinoff Toradora! light novel, and he also appeared in the series' anime. He may be a good student and a member of the student council, but he feels a bit overwhelmed, and isn't totally happy with his circ*mstances. Still, he's not a ball of rage like Bakugo.

9 Eiji Niizuma Is A Talented Manga Artist (Bakuman.)

Bakuman is a popular manga/anime franchise focusing on the manga industry itself, and this provides fascinating insight to many fans around the world. Clearly, drawing an ongoing manga series is stressful and tricky work at best, but the talented Eiji Niizuma thought it was easy and fun.

Eiji, voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto, is an eccentric and brilliant recluse who had no trouble getting a smash-hit series serialized, and he was the main rival for Bakuman's two main characters. In the original manga, he ended his popular manga series on his own terms, then started another. He's unstoppable.

8 Takumi Usui Is A Pervy Alien (Maid-Sama!)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (3)

Nobuhiko Okamoto can voice energetic and fierce characters with great skill, but he's not exactly typecast for voicing Katsuki Bakugo-style roles. Mr. Okamoto is more flexible than that, and he was the talent behind the voice of Takumi Usui, the smooth male love interest of Maid-Sama!.

Takumi Usui is nothing like Katsuki Bakugo. He's a fairly ordinary guy who comes from a British upper-crust family, and he's known for being polite, suave and popular with absolutely everyone. But he's also mysterious, and it took awhile for Misaki Ayuzawa, the heroine, to learn anything substantial about him.

7 Rin Okumura Is Satan's Son (Blue Exorcist)

Blue Exorcist is a fantasy action anime series that should appeal to fans of D.Gray-Man and Soul Eater, and the protagonist, Rin Okumura, doesn't just have to face Satan and slay the feared Beast. In fact, Satan is Rin's father, making this battle a personal one.

Nobuhiko Okamoto does a fine job portraying the energetic and kind Rin, and Rin gets along well with his foster father, even if he doesn't readily admit it. He attends the True Cross Academy, which is a bit like the U.A. school, and can use blue flames in combat.

6 Mitsuo Plays Rugby In High School (Daily Lives Of High School Boys)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (5)

Daily Lives of High School boys is an alternate take on the "cute girls doing cute things" subgenre, being roughly the male version of series such as Azumanga Daioh and Laid-Back Camp. Not many series take this approach, but this one does, and it makes for a fun watch. And Nobuhiko Okamoto had a hand in it.

Nobuhiko Okamoto's character is Mitsuo, a student at the Sanada North high school. He practiced with his friend Hidenori to earn a spot on the school's soccer team, but he ended up joining the rugby team instead. What is more, his classmates often idly chatter about Mitsuo's most embarrassing moments, something Katsuki Bakugo wouldn't put up with.

5 Ghiaccio Can Use Ice (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

A small handful of My Hero Academia voice actors voice some roles in the Golden Wind story arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, such as Izuku's voice actor handling the role of Narancia Ghirga and Eraserhead's voice actor portraying Leone Abbacchio. Then there's Nobuhiko Okamoto, who voices a villain.

Ghiaccio is that villain, a ruthless member of the La Squadra group. Ghiaccio fought in just one battle, using his ice-based Stand to challenge Giorno Giovanna and Guido Mista the gunslinger. Ice is rather different than Bakugo's explosions, but Ghiaccio's personality is similar to Bakugo's, so there's that.

4 Ryo Kurokiba Is A Fierce Chef (Food Wars!)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (7)

Ryo Kurokiba is one of several of Nobuhiko Okamooto's characters who not only share Bakugo's voice, but also his attitude. Ryo is a student at the elite Totsuki culinary school, and he is known for his fiercely competitive attitude and his affinity for seafood. He is also Alice Nakiri's loyal companion, but not exactly her friend.

Ryo actually has two personalities, and by default, he is apathetic and quiet in everyday life. But when someone challenges him, he switches to Bakugo mode, and nothing can hold him back in the kitchen. He actually outperformed Soma in the Autumn Election finals, and only narrowly lost to Akira Hayama.

3 Genya Shinazugawa Is A Demon Slayer With An Attitude (Demon Slayer)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (8)

Early in the story of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro Kamado the hero trained hard to become a professional demon hunter, and during the final exam, he met a handful of other trainees his age, including the electric Zenitsu Agatsuma. He also briefly met Genya Shinazugawa, who made a bad first impression.

Genya is another angry Nobuhiko Okamoto role, a Bakugo-style character who has a fierce temper and very little patience. He actually spoke disrespectfully to the exam's proctors and roughed them up a bit before he restrained himself. Tanjiro could hardly believe it.

2 Liebe Is An Anguished Demon (Black Clover)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (9)

It should be noted that at first, a voice actor named Kenichiro Matsuda voiced the character Liebe in Black Clover until Nobuhiko Okamoto took over the role. Liebe is a demon, and based on his attitude, he's another Bakugo-esque character in Nobuhiko's career. He's more demonic than Bakugo could ever be.

However, Liebe is not entirely evil. He harbors deep resentment toward other demons and isn't too fond of humans either, but as Asta noted, he doesn't actually kill the people whom he hates. In fact, he is capable of feeling sadness on others' behalf.

1 Garfiel Tinsel Isn't Always Subaru's Ally (Re:Zero)

My Hero Academia: 10 Anime Characters Voiced By Katsuki Bakugo’s VA Nobuhiko Okamoto (10)

Garfiel Tinsel is a Beast Human who used to guard the secluded Sanctuary, and he met Subaru Natsuki the isekai hero in the second season of Re:Zero, which largely took place in Sanctuary and the Mathers Estate. Garfiel also has a half-sister Frederica, who works at the Mathers estate.

Garfiel isn't a true villain, but he was certainly antagonistic to Subaru for a time, and he went into beast mode more than once to fight his many enemies. He also had some personal baggage to deal with, and Nobuhiko Okamoto made Garfiel's intense but sympathetic emotions quite clear with his voice acting work.
